Nyokabi has over 27 years working experience in property development, education, and farming with a diversified work history in both the public and private sectors. She holds a Masters degree in Education from Stanford University, USA and a BA Ed from Northwestern University (Deans List).
As a Founding Director of Peponi Schools she has been instrumental in the growth of the institution which began with 5 students 26 years ago and today the Group has grown its numbers to almost 1000 students. The schools constitute Kabete Kindergarten, Peponi House Preparatory School and Peponi School which are today amongst the leading British Independent Schools in the Eastern Africa region.
Over the years Nyokabi has constantly found herself drawn to the needs of the youth in our society, which has led her to be a founder member and director of various foundations.
Specifically Director, The Kenyatta Trust – A Trust that is transforming lives through education and currently has over 300 beneficiaries ranging from secondary to tertiary. Other beneficiaries of the trust include parents of the students as The Trust creates a sustainable living for the beneficiaries and their families.
Uwezo – This focuses on rehabilitation of street children through provision of education and life skills. She is the Patron of Gatundu Children’s Home- A home for orphaned and vulnerable children. Nyokabi is a Founder member of Starehe Girl’s Centre – A school that offers quality education to girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Nyokabi is an experienced entrepreneur and owns award winning Manda Orchids, the largest commercial orchid farm in the greater East Africa region with further interests in the development of residential and rental properties including involvement in commodity trading.
More recently she has invested as the Co-Founder and is the Executive Chair of KOTO Housing Kenya Ltd- an innovative venture in alternative technology for affordable building solutions through manufacture of EPS building panels. KOTO won the Building Innovation of the year award at the East African Property Awards, 2014
A dynamic individual with diversified interests and is today a Trustee of Beyond Zero and member of The First Lady’s Marathon Team FLOKE. She participated in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd editions of The First Lady’s Half Marathon in 2014/2015/2016 and the London Marathon in 2014. The Beyond Zero campaign aims to reduce maternal and child mortality.
A mother of three daughters all in university Nyokabi also enjoys travelling, reading, cooking and hiking and even climbed Mount Kenya in 2011.
